George Thomson & Smash the Windows

Swingin' Tern presents George Thomson with Smash the Windows

Smash the Windows raises the roof as they shatter the glass ceiling.  Dancers break the door down and rattle the rafters to hear George rock the house with his smash hits. On the eve of destruction, this joist is jumpin’ as the dancers burn up the dance floor to bring the house down.

George Thomson is a traditional New England dance leader, calling fun and interesting contra dances. He enjoys calling singing squares in the style of the late Ralph Sweet. George also calls Scottish and Irish style cèilidh (kay-lee) dances for weddings and Burns night suppers. He teaches Scottish country dance. George is a Morris dancer and plays the bagpipes.

Smash the Windows at Swingin' Tern

Smash The Windows began as a Civil War period dance project in 2006 and branched out to play contras and festivals in 2007.  Their music features Sligo-style Irish and New England jigs and reels but also includes Bluegrass and Old Timey tunes as well as a nice selection of waltzes and couples dances.  Their motto:  Dancing beats sitting every time!  Smash the Windows features Bruce Young on guitar, Peggy Kaiser on piano, and Ryck Kaiser on fiddle.
