Featuring The Kennedys, Joel Mabus, We're About Nine, Tori Barone & Raise the Roof

The Kennedys

For over a decade, THE KENNEDYS have been rocking the folk world with their unique brand of high-energy performance. It's more than the powerful close-harmony singing. It's more than the hot guitar work. It's more than the driving rhythms and power chords. It's the obvious chemistry between Pete and Maura Kennedy that is so charming and so contagious that the listener can't help but grin and join in their fun.

Joel Mabus

JOEL MABUS is the man with everything. Outstanding chops on guitar, fiddle, and banjo. A wonderful sense of humor. Great skill as a songwriter as well an astute tastefulness in the songs he selects to cover. And a subtle theatricality to his stage presence that captivates and engrosses the listener.

We're About Nine (Duo)

WE'RE ABOUT NINE is making quite a splash in the folk world these days. These two young (just into their 20's) songwriters, Brian Gundersdorf and Katie Graybeal, bring incredible energy to the stage, along with full harmonies, multi-instrumental ability, and fascinating songwriting.

Dave Sherman

Whenever there is a music session around the Folk Project, you'll find DAVE SHERMAN in the thick of it. With his gutsy voice and tasty guitar licks, he delivers good time music from the more obscure country and blues singers of today to the acoustic rock of his youth.

Jean Scully

JEAN SCULLY was drawn to singing by her love of Irish songs. But once she got started, she didn't stop there. She uses her clear soprano to good effect on beautiful music of all sorts, drawing on the help of several talented singers and players from the Folk Project to accompany her. For this Festival, she plans a program entirely of songs written by other Folk Project members.

Scott Sheldon

SCOTT SHELDON has a way with words. He puts together very well-written songs and recitations, often with a wry twist, and always punctuated with some solid fingerstyle guitar accompaniment.

Mary Kay Mann

MARY KAY MANN plays Celtic harp both as a solo instrument and as an accompaniment to her fine voice. Her repertoire ranges from traditional Irish tunes to songs from her own pen.

Dance Caller: Tori Barone

TORI BARONE leads lively, flowing, joyful contras with energy and patience. After three years, she's becoming a hometown Philly favorite as well as a popular touring caller up and down the east coast. Tori is also the founder and director of the popular "ButterBall" dance at Thanksgiving time. So whether you're an experienced dancer or brand spanking new...put on your fancy dancing shoes. You won't want to sit this one out!

Dance Band: Raise the Roof

RAISE THE ROOF played here a few years back and nearly did take the roof off the place. Mathew Clark (fiddle/mandolin), Pete Soloway (bass), Judi Stellar (hammered dulcimer) and Kathy Talvitie (guitar), have the joyous, driving sound that comes when talented friends spend fifteen years making music for dancers together.
