FP Logo FP Festival Photo Contest: Fall 2007 Winners

FALL 2007 FESTIVAL PHOTO CONTEST WINNERS!

Judging

Judging the 1st ever Festival Photo Contest proved more difficult than originally planned. There were 1371 photos submitted for the contest. Initially, 2 professional photographers, not FP members, were asked to review the top 175 photos that had been rated by the Publicity Committee as having quality and interest. The judges were each asked to choose the top 20 photos from this set according to their professional judgement. After their votes were cast, however, it turned out that there was almost no overlap between their choices.

An additional set of 3 judges, also not FP members, but involved with folk activities elsewhere, was solicited for their input. This produced a fair amount of overlap and many ties.

Final tie-breaking was achieved by a blind rating of pictures purely on their desirability for use in upcoming Festival and Folk Project publicity. This was done by 2 FP members who did not know who had taken the photos.

The results of all this are shown below. Congratulations to the winners!
