Re: Open Stages at the Minstrel Coffeehouse

Open Stages at the Minstrel are usually on the 2nd Friday of the month. They are pre-empted occasionally for other events, often in February and May, and sometimes other months. Check our schedule to confirm.

HOW TO GET TO PERFORM AT THE MINSTREL'S OPEN STAGE:

• There are 11 available 15-minute performance slots starting at 8:00 PM.
• Starting Saturday, one week before the Open Stage, you can request a performance slot by e-mail or phone (973) 335-9489. That's my home phone. Please call at polite hours.
• The first six requests received will get a Guaranteed Performance Slot, and the next two will get alternate status in case of no-shows. You will be notified by return call or e-mail if you are among the first six.
• The first person to reserve will get first choice of time slots (not necessarily the first slot), and the next five will follow in succession of choice.
• The next choice will go to a performer who volunteers to staff at the Minstrel on the night of the Open Stage. To get that slot, contact our Volunteer Chair at .
• The remaining 4 time slots will be chosen by lottery from among all the remaining performers on site on the evening of the Open Stage.
• No one who performed at the Minstrel's previous Open Stage will be permitted a Guaranteed Performance Slot (one of the first six.) But you still can join the lottery.
• You must be on site at 7:45 on the evening of the Open Stage to claim your Guaranteed Performance Slot or to be in the lottery for the last 4.

I do book opening acts from Open Stage performers. If I'm interested, I will tell you that same evening, and sometimes I will try to arrange a booking on the spot.
