Our Special Concerts series helps to broaden the range of artists the Folk Project can bring to local stages. Several times a year we present nationally and internationally known performers whose music is rooted in diverse regions, cultures, and styles.
Tommy
The gentle songs of a gentle man, ringing out above the tumult and the shouting....Through people like Tommy Sands there will be an answer -- Belfast Telegraph
Most gifted songwriter...with an ability to write on serious subjects which come across as songs rather than sermons...also well able to be extremely funny in the way he puts words together -- Irish Times
Tommy Sands is a world figure as a musician and a peace activist. "It would take a mean bastard to dislike him," according to Eamon McCann in Hot Press, "Sands has a way with words to charm and disarm and coax a chorus out of the tightest jawed audience." Tommy Sands has six albums in his discography, including, his own compositions, traditional songs, and children's songs. His work is covered by the likes of Joan Baez, Kathy Mattea, Dolores Keane, Frank Patterson, The Dubliners and many others. First released in 1985, his songs There Were Roses and Daughters and Sons have become classic anthems.
TICKETSTickets can be bought at the concert the night of the show using either cash or check. Tickets bought online will be waiting for the purchaser at the door.
