FP Logo Folk Project: NJ Storytelling Festival

The art of storytelling exists in every culture around the globe. Tales that teach, inspire, heal and entertain are constantly being shared by people of all ages. Since the early 1990's, it has been the mission of the New Jersey Storytelling Festival to share some of these stories as well as the New Jersey residents who tell them. Novices to professionals, teenagers to senior citizens--New Jersey's storytellers gather yearly to share tales that are as diverse as the tellers themselves.

This year's festival will have 4 stages featuring performances for adults, children, and general audiences

The oral story is one of the oldest and most diverse of all performing arts. Tellers can romance and frighten. They educate and enlighten. They can cause political excitement and children's delightment. They can heal the body and spirit. Come to the festival and hear it. If you've never been to a Storytelling Festival, you're in for a treat. If you've experienced a Storytelling Festival before, get ready for new surprises.

This year's festival will be a full day of storytelling beginning at noon with a special event this year showcasing Youth Tellers from across the state. Then the best tellers in New Jersey will perform in separate venues throughout the museums and gardens. Performances for adults, families and children will allow festival goers to enjoy the vast variety of the Telling Arts.

The festival will end with the traditional LIGHTENING ROUND! The audience will be delighted with 3 minute stories from a cavalcade of Tellers.

A great event to share with your best friends, lovers, children, parents, teachers, artists, and dreamers. One thing for certain -- it's going to be a remarkable day. Please save the date and join us for the 17th Annual New Jersey Storytelling Festival at the beautiful Grounds for Sculpture.
